There are a great number of military bases thriving everywhere in Japan, and they are regarded as questionable for a long time. Besides, there were some precedents that servicemen made passes at girls by now, and some of them were televised on the news. However, there was a sexual assault committed by American soldier few years ago, but it is doubtful whether he was punished or not. The crime might be left as it is still now in the darkness, though.
Regarding the article, "Four marines investigated for rape," four marines were arrested as suspect ion of gang rape. The woman who was raped was working at the bar and she encountered with the marines. They picked her up and committed the crime.
To this matter, U.S. side stated that they completely cooperate to solute the truth of the matter. However, Japanese government is only waiting the result of investigation.
There are two responses to this article :
First letter was, "Don't judge marines too fast" which was written by Mannel Sandoval. He said that the woman who is working at the bar should have inferred her situation. She has already known which position she was placed for, and what was expected for her. Therefore, Japanese government should not give sudden judgement to the marines, they should do careful consideration. In addition, U.S. army is protecting Japan from China and North Korea from attack. He emphasizes the importance of U.S. army. That is indeed, but it does not mean that they can commit a crime because they are the army marines. The woman was probably has raped. It is selfish that it was her responsibility to be raped and where she was worked at.
Second letter was, "Disgusting outlook on woman" and it was from Kevin Egan. He said that it is a wrong opinion that the woman was raped depended on where she was worked at, worked at the bar. Besides, the crime was nothing to do with the army. It does not mean that they can freely commit a crime because there are bases around the world. In addition, what is the most important thing is that the woman was in the weakest position. That is true. It is woman that who is always be hurted in mind and body.

Why I am in IES
I have already known the existence of IES before I entered Kansai Gaidai University. The reason why I have chosen this university was because there was IES. However, frankly speaking, I was worried about if I could join the program or not.
There were three reasons why I joined the IES program.
First, at any rate, I wanted to study English. I really loved English, and wanted to improve my ability in English. Therefore, to put my idea into practice, I needed an ideal environment to study English, and then I found that there was a special program which was called IES in Kansai Gaidai University, and I decided to enter here.
Second, I wanted to study abroad. I wanted to have an opportunity to meet people around the world, and to touch cross-culture. In addition, I wanted to have various experiences. Anyhow, I wanted to run away from Japan and widen my world.
Last, for my dream. In the future, I want to be in a company with capital participation by a foreign company. I want to work based on foreign countries, and I also have interest in trading circles. Therefore, English is absolute for my dream.
IES is strict, and I am pressed by homework every day, but at the same time, it is fun. I have classmates to study with. I live a full life now. I will do my best to make my dream come true. I, from my heart, think that I want to go on being in IES. I cannot abandon.

Dating with Mitsuko
On last Sunday, Mitsuko and I went to Kyoto, but not just for sightseeing. We visited there for filming relations that we had to make an appointment with a Japanese dancing girl, what we call Maiko. We, our filming group, were deciding to interview Maiko, so we had to find one and had to arrive at an appointment.
Mami also planning to go together, but to our regret, she was sick in bed, so finally Mitsuko and I had to go to Kyoto. We arranged to meet in front of the subway ticket gate. We went to Shijyou by subway. There was a crowd of people and I almost got lost. I was desperately followed Mitsuko.
At very first, we headed for Kamo river to reach Kawara town. However, we were feeling hunger at that time, and on the way, we luckily found an appetizing dumpling! We bought each one and walked on the street.
We walked for a long distance, looking for Maiko, and reached Miyakawa town. However, we were ignorant of Kyoto, so we asked police man where Miyakawa town was. He kindly showed us where it was, and we luckily found the place.
In Miyakawa town, we walked on a Hanami alley, for we heard that we can find Maiko there, so we walked all over the street. However, we could only find one or two Maiko, and they seemed hurrying, so we could not even speak to them. Finally, we searched on Internet which we could come in contact with Maiko, and called the person for cooperation, but it was too expensive! Fifty thousand yen per hour...amazing!
Dating with Mitsuko, I have written as the tittle, we went shopping, ate ice-cream, and enjoyed a lot besides searching for Maiko. It was a wonderful day♪However, I wonder how Mitsuko felt about dating with me...hmm...

Three straight holidays
Today in my blog, I would like to write about what I have done during my holidays.
On last Saturday, from ten to six, I worked as a part-time job at McDonald. However, I was not feeling well enough because I had been sick in bed and, as you all know, I was absent from school on last Friday. Aithough I came down with an illness, I had to work, for if I have canceled my schedule, then it means I gave other people trouble. I could not do that, so I pushed myself too hard. The rest of the day, I took a restat home.
The following day, it means Sunday, again I worked. I was not planning to work on that day, but the store manager asked me to work, so I agreed with him. On that day, I only worked for four hours, so it was not so hard. After the part-time job, I went back home and started writting my essay. It took me till night.
Last day of the holidays, I had an appointment to meet a friend. However, we did not decide where to go, so I wondered where he would take me to. He drove me to Osaka, long journey. It took us about two hours. I heard that we was plannning to visit Kaiyukan, but there was a lot was people, so we changed the plan to visit Nankou. I have never been there, so I enjoyed much, and surprisingly, I met Saki in the shopping mall there. She was with her parents, but I was lucky because when I met her, my friend was not with me.

A language in a state of flux
Using loanwords, what we call gairaigo, is an every day experience in our lives. We unclearly borrow them as a tool of being immersed in a sense of superiority without grasping their drastic meanings.
I think this abuse of gairaigo symbolizes the present situation in Japan; easily influenced by other countries. There are great many words to express the same meaning in Japanese, but people prefer to use gairaigo. Therefore, people cannot understand one another, and be lapsed into a situation; lack of communication.
I do not think that using gairaigo is not always a mistake. The Japanese language has three notation, such as kanji, hiragana, and katakana, but these are started to use as an innovate means of not falling behind various foreign countries. Hence, gairaigo is, just a way of conforming to internationalization. Our misunderstanding of gairaigo comes from a lack of a sense of closeness, and because we cannot comprehend the meaning from katakana. Each kanji has a meaning, so we can understand the meaning from reading kanji. If so, why people use gairaigo not translating into kanji?
It is simply because gairaigo sounds cool. By talking about a thing other people do not know, a person can lose oneself in a superiority complex. This might be a Japanese peculiarity.
I have said that using gairaigo is not an error, but it is persistently used just in the public place. I think it is not suitable for politics. They have to tell exactly and easily to nation, so it is the wrong way to throw gairaigo, an inexperience ambiguous language, into the speech.
We have to treasure Japan as a beautiful country.
